What a wonderful find!!! I was able to install this gate on my own at the top of our staircase within 30 minutes. It probably could have taken less time but I ALWAYS read the instructions from start to finish and probably spent too much time remeasuring things before installation. My 1 year old no longer has to remain in his room when upstairs. He is now free to run up and down the hall and explore the other rooms without us worrying about him taking a tumble down the stairs.
I love the the gate swings both ways and was pleased to see that this gate came in the "extra tall" option. The two extensions that are included are a great perk even though at the present time we are not using them. However, we plan to continue to use this gate even after babyproofing the stairway is no longer necessary. As others have already mentioned, it can also be used to keep pets out of specific areas.
My only recommendation would be for the company to use metal instead of plastic for the spring latch that locks the gate in place at the top. We haven't had any problems thus far but it just seems as though plastic would break/snap more quickly over time.

I purchased this gate to keep my twins out of the kitchen. It works great! I also bought 3 more for top of stairs and for 2 doorways at the base of my stairs. Very happy with the purchase.

It was very easy to install with the extentions to fit my 47 1/2 inch door way. Didn't take long to get it up and instructions were very clear to understand. Opening the gate can be done with one hand and closes by itself after you let the gate go. It is a very tall gate and I like the good quality grip pads. It comes with adhesive pads or screws to install the mounting cups. I used the adhesive and works great. I got it online at sears for a good price with extentions included. Highly recommend this gate!

This gate is much better than others we've tried. And it can swing open in either direction which is very handy when carrying things. It also looks like they were careful to design it with enough clearance around all areas that it won't pinch a baby's hand if they grab it when it closes.

I purchased this gate to keep my cats out of my dining room turned into study. I didn't want to install a door as someday I may turn it back into a formal dining room. So I looked into the idea of a child's gate. Well I ran into two problems. My doorway is 48 in wide and most gates only go up to 42 in wide. I could only find wider one's online. Which made me hesitant in case I had to return it. I also figured with cats I needed a taller gate so that they would not be tempted to jump over it. So I narrowed it down to two gates. I got turned off by the other tall/wide gate as a reviewer said if you're even slightly on the heavy side you won't fit through the door. I'm a full figured girl so I wasn't going to spend that much money and not be able to get through the door. So I took a chance on the only other one available that fit my criteria tall/wide. I'm glad I did. The door is wide enough that I can get through while carrying my laptop without a problem. YES! It's also made very sturdy and didn't take very long to set up at all. One trick though. When opening the gate you have to lift up and push, the lifting up part got me for a few minutes as there aren't instructions on how to open the gate. All in all VERY STURDY! It's also very stylish compared to those cheap plastic or wood ones. I chose the black color so it wouldn't look so much like a child's gate and I'm very pleased. I will deffinetly buy this model agail when/if I ever have some little one's of my own instead of a regular child's gate. Especially since the height makes it so much easier to open! I will recommend this model to all of my mommy friends!
