"Great product for pet owners" 2010-01-21
By Original Larkin (Arizona)
We bought this gate for our small 7lb dog. Rather than use it in a round, closed in configuration, we use the panals (4 and 2) to block the two entrances to our dining area to keep our dog inside during the day. For this purpose, this product is awesome (and very versatile!). You can use as many or as few panals as you need and for the price there is no way you would find a dog gate that spans a large opening.

I don't think I would be happy keeping my dog in this gate if I formed a circle though - I would probably look to buy 2 sets if that was my intention (just so that the space wouljd be bigger).

I have absolutely no complaints about the product, the sides fit together well, it is a great height (easy for us to step over) and looks decent. Again, for the price I don't think you can ask for anything more than what you get with this set.

THIS PRODUCT IS FAIRLY EASY TO UNFOLD, HOWEVER IT DOES TAKE A BIT OF MUSCLE! THE STRUCTURE IS QUITE STURDY AND LARGE ENOUGH FOR MY SEVEN-MONTH OLD GRANDSON TO CRAWL AROUND AND ENJOY HIS TOYS. I PURCHASED ONE FOR MY DAUGHTER (HIS MOM), AND IT HAS BEEN A GODSEND FOR HER, AS WELL.

"Great Kid Fence, but need to be realistic in what your getting" 2010-01-16
By A. Annie
NOTE::: This is all based on us using a square configuration, which is not recommended by the product maker. So I would only read this if you want to do the same as we did.

We needed to control movement on our son while he was playing on his mat so we ordered this item with a few extension sets. We have a 9 foot by 6 foot square.

Look... it is not steel or wood, so be realistic in what this is going to do. If a kid throws themselves on the fence it is going to bow and give way. If they really want to push it around, they will. However, you should not leave your kids completely unattended in my opinion and they should get bored of the fence relatively quick and just play with their toys.

It will make it so you have a sense of control and not have to watch them 100% of the time, but it is a plastic fence without any brace and not that heavy... but newsflash = none of them are. If you want to contain your kids then build a real fence.

 "Nice product" 2010-01-09
By B. Barton
This product is fine. I bought it for my puppy, to keep him out of trouble, but he doesn't seem to like it much! My only complaint is the false promise I was given by amazon.com that it would arrive in 2 days if I signed up for the prime membership. My item was not shipped and received by the 31st of Dec. I received it on Jan. 4th. I was very disappointed in this as I needed the item by the first date. I will think twice before ordering from here again!

 "So far so good" 2010-01-04
By Abbie (Austin, Texas)
I received the Superyard XT Gate Play Yard for Christmas and have so far been very pleased with it. It is easy to fold and unfold, and very versatile. I was able to use it to block in half my living room and keep my young nephew away from the Christmas tree but still give him plenty of room to play. The plastic is soft enough he is not going to hurt himself if he bumps into it and yet sturdy enough that he can pull himself up on it.

I needed some way to keep my Rat Terrier confined while I'm away. This gate was an EXCELLENT

choice. It was easy to install and w/ the gate, I can leave it up. I put it in the doorway of the kitchen and Nia is confined, but also has the whole kitchen to roam around in. It is sturdy and aesthetically pleasing, as well.

 "Awful gate!" 2010-01-16
By Beth Stafford (Georgia)
I bought this yesterday and will be returning it today, it is awful! I have installed it exactly as specified by Evenflo and no matter how I adjust it the gate seems to have 2 settings: 1) No possible way to open it or 2) opens if my baby leans on it. The mechanism to secure it is very shoddy and it takes herculean force to open it even with two hands when 'secure'. Steer clear, my friends.

 "Don't waste your money" 2010-01-02
By A. Richards (PA)
This gate is nearly impossible to open and almost as difficult to close securely. The gate is hard to install and the pressure mount system is not very secure. The pads that should keep it from sliding out of place are too slippery to hold well even when you tighten the gate to the extreme. If you enjoy being frustrated every time you walk through it, then this is the gate for you. If you want a gate that is easily opened while carrying a baby or toddler, and that will keep your child secure, look elsewhere.

The First Years Hands Free Gate

Buy Cheap The First Years Hands Free Gate

Buy Low Price From Here Now

Rarely does a mom or dad make it through a day without thinking they could use an extra set of hands. So First Years designed the next best thing -- a safety gate that doesn't require any hands at all! But even though it's simple for an adult to just press on the pedal and walk through, it's too difficult for a baby. The gate fits all standard doorways 29" to 34" wide, and, with use of the Gate Extension Kit (sold separately) will also fit other openings up to 44" wide. The pressure-mounted design won't damage walls or doorways. An audible click lets you know the gate has locked.

 "Baby or PeT gate" 2010-01-01
By Viking Starr
I used this gate for many many years, to keep children and pets out of my room. Always worked great, especially the hands free part. As far as top of stairs, not so good as with any gate. Easy open going down but going up can be difficult reaching the pedal to open. The best thing to do is put in a door and lock it to keep the young one from going down. Toddles are really short people, going up stairs by crawling works well, going down can be a little more difficult but babies tend to overcome if that have to desire to get somewhere. One more thought, when baby gets older and finds out that he can not open the gate then he may find a way to stack things up to climb over and that is the big thing about gates at top of steps. That is way they tell you not to put them at the top of the steps. Enough said, do not give the item or Amazon 1 star,

After browsing the stores for an infant gate, I thought they all pretty much left something to be desired. So, I chose this gate simply on price, fit, and the foot pedal. After reading the instructions and setting up The First Years Hands Free Gate, in way less than 10 minutes, I couldn't believe what an wonderful product this is. Very sturdy and works like a charm.

 "Great gate..came back for 3 more" 2009-12-26
By M. HOOD (Florida)
We have several types of gates in our home for a toddler and a dog. We had one of these gates, between our kitchen and living room. When we broke a different gate in another location, we replaced it with one of these hands free gates. Very convenient to open when your hands are full. We also have a staircase that we've blocked access to with gates on each side of the foyer using these hands free gates. Also swings in or out. Great invention.

"Base snapped baby fell head first into leg of swing" 2010-01-06
By Kathleen B. Pabich (Santa Cruz)
Up until the point my son went head first into the leg of the craddle we loved this swing. I could see he would out grown it by 4-5 months as it doesn't sit upright very much but I thought it would be worth having for months 1-5. Two nights ago I heard a snap, crash and scream. The legs that attach to the papasan base came out and he went head first to the ground. He was strapped in so he "sled" into the bar and it would have been much worse had he not been strapped in however if they had a five point harness this would have been avoided. When I snapped the legs back in they would not "click" (not that I would have used it again I was just trying to understand what happened). My son still has a red mark where he hit (1 inch from his soft spot) and I tremble everytime I see the swing. I have contacted Fischer-Price and they take things very seriously and will be investigating - hopefully just my swing was faulty but I would never chance it with another one of these swings.

"I wish I've gotten this swing before" 2009-12-07
By K. V. Tamai (CA)
I love this swing. It totally blends with my house deco. I like the earth tones my baby enjoys the two way swing, the music and she loves the mobile animals. sometimes she gets frustrated that she cannot reach the animals in the mobile which I think it's cute. The assemble was easy at least for my husband. A major plus is that it has a plug so you don't spend more money in batteries. We bought this swing after returning a Carters swing and I'm so happy that we did it.

The only con for me is that the seat in the swing is kind of narrow, I know it doesn't look like that in the picture but for my growing baby she is 3 moths old 3 weeks she is starting to look kind of uncomfortable so I think that, one more month and she will be done with the swing, although I'll try to put her in the swing until she can't fit anymore. That is the reason why I wish I've gotten this swing since my baby was a new born so she would've enjoyed the swing a little bit longer.

I had to take one star off from a five star rating because I know parents would like their babies to enjoy the swing at least until the baby is six moths old and I don't think babies would feel comfortable with the narrow seat. Other than that I think this is the cutes and best swing in the market. One more thing the price I got on Amazon for the swing was the best and the swing got here in perfect condition.

 "This swing is fabulous!" 2009-12-01
By T. Roberts
We started out with a travel swing for our baby---not a good idea. She was never a fan of it so I was very hesitant to spend more money on a full size swing. I went forward with getting one because I needed some type of relief---a place to rest the baby other than her crib. We purchased this swing when our daughter was 3 months old (now 7 months). I wish I had purchased it sooner than 3 months--this would have been a wonderful thing to have when coming home from the hospital! This swing is beautiful and fits our decor well. In the past we used a regular baby swing with our son which is not the same as a cradle swing--this has more of a papasan chair seat which seems way more comfortable. I love the fact that the music is soft and that there are several music/sound options--it's not the loud irritating music that most baby stuff is equipped with. The fact that the swing can swing back to front as well as side to side is also a great feature. I love that this swing can be plugged in--no batteries needed (though you can use batteries if you like)!!

The lowest speed setting is a bit faster than you would expect so as others have stated in previous reviews, weighing down the swing with a blanket does the trick. Once the baby is no longer a "newborn" then a blanket is not needed to weigh down the seat. I love the fact that you can remove the seat from the frame and take it into another room without disturbing the baby--again another reason why I wish I had purchased this immediately upon my daughter's birth. The built-in fold over blanket is cute, however it is not adequate to keep a baby warm---totally more of a neat feature rather than providing sufficient warmth. I always layer the baby with one of her soft, cuddly blankets when she is in the swing--she seems to love it. And I am surprised at how much the baby seems to still like the mobile that hangs above her head--it's been 4 months and I still catch her glancing at it. This swing features a good amount of variety when it somes down to music, swinging direction, and the ability to remove the seat altogether. The colors are almost a pea green, dark brown (almost espresso) and burgandy--it's beautiful.

We chose this swing because of the style and because of the seat being different than the traditional swing seat. I also like that there is not a tray on this swing like some swings have--I like that my daughter uses the swing to rest and not to play and bang around--if there was a tray she'd be distracted from laying back. I use her walker and stationary entertainer for when she needs some action--we use the swing for quiet rest time. I hope to use this swing if we have more children in the future--it was well worth the price and I would recommend this to anyone that doesn't want a traditional swing or to anyone who is looking to get a very comfortable, top of the line swing. If you are not a fan of pastel colors and want a nice looking unisex swing that also happens to be comfortable, functional, and safe go for this one! It's pricer than some swings but as much as we've used it, it's been well worth it. If you have a small space however, I would not recommend this swing--it is larger and takes up a good amount of room due to the fram being wide at the bottom.

 "I love this swing" 2009-11-23
By Camomila (Buenos Aires, Argentina)
I got this swing when my baby was 1 month old. He immediately loved playing and napping in it. He is now almost 6 months old and still enjoys it every day.

Pros:

- Can be plugged in. (don't have to buy batteries! This is great since my son spends a lot of time in it. Sleeps 1-2 hr naps in it...)

- The music is pleasant, especially the nature sounds. And when i don't play music, the sound of the swing itself is not loud at all.

- The design is really nice, minimalist yet cozy unlike other baby gear.

- The removable seat is great. I use it to take him all over the house as an alternative to having him on the floor.

Cons

- The mobile doesn't move on its own.

- No light projector

Overall though, this was a great buy.

 "Minor problem" 2010-01-01
By Letzeisen, Felecia & Greg
We've totally enjoyed this swing except for one minor design problem. The first one we ordered did not work so I ordered a replacement. When that one came it did not work either. So I troubleshot it with a voltage tester and found the the positive side of the middle 2 batteries (it uses 4) was not making any contact. I used a screwdriver to bend the contact pins out a little and it then worked fine. I'm certain this is what was wrong with the first one so if you have a problem getting it to work I would bend these 2 wires out a little and try it then.

"Ok swing for the first 10 weeks" 2009-09-15
By Jenny (NJ)
This swing is ok up to about 10-12 week old babies. My son grew out of it almost immediately. He is 10 weeks now and he's way to long for this swing and I don't feel safe keeping him in it since his feet are dangling off of the swing fully reclined. This swing might work a little bit longer for those who have smaller babies but probably worth spending the extra money and getting a bigger swing so your little one can use it for a longer period of time. I now am look to buy another swing for my son since this one is to tiny. Plus the tray is terrible... it separates the baby's legs so if you decide to put the tray on you can't put a swaddled baby into the swing or easily put a blanket on the child. Another thing I didn't like about this swing was that it's not soft at all... very rough material and no padding.

"At least it looks nice!" 2009-07-17
By B. Dullinger (mn)
At least this swing looks nice, as it has basically been an ornament in our house. The automatic swing function never worked right out of the box. The replacement motor Graco sent us didn't work at all. When we called again, they were out of replacement motors.

They told us to buy another unit and the would refund us the full MSRP (we had to fight to return the unit, they wanted us to wait 6 weeks for a replacement motor)

I would not only stay away from this swing, I would stay away from all Graco products, as they seem more concerned with having them built by cheap labor in China, than they are about good product quality.

 "Prefer this to Graco" 2010-01-22
By Jeff (In PA)
I replaced a faulty Graco swing that ceased working after a few weeks because the motor died with this swing.

I enjoy this Fischer-Price swing far more for several reasons:

1. The swing has already proved more reliable and outlived the Grace - not hard to do - but it is swinging very consistently.

2. The option to swing side-to-side or front-to-back is enjoyable not just to my baby, but allows me to turn her to face me.

3. The active mobile is well-placed and more intriguing to my baby than the passive Graco one.

4. The single arm suspension and nice height of this swing makes it effectively take less space. You can actually store small things underneath it. All swings are large, but this one seems to economize space much better.

5. The plush interior and pillow are much nicer than the Graco.

6. Assembly is easier and instructions are clearer.

On the downside, this swing takes batteries. Others were complaining about their fast depletion. I put in some totally cheap batteries and they have lasted several weeks with nightly use. Therefore, I feel like this is not an issue for me and I now prefer the mobility that battery operation offers.

Also the price is slightly more than the best Graco's but in this case the reliability, superior design and added features are worth it.

 "Fantastic" 2010-01-22
By PJD (NYC)
This swing is great for our son. It cuddles him and props him up just the right amount so he is comfortable, especially good after a big feeding. Also, the music is shockingly not annoying even includes classical and nature sounds. The mobile is also wonderful and I actually like that it turns itself off after awhile. I put it on my baby registry as a whim because I thought it looked adorable and liked the star shaped lights. I didn't think we would receive for it was a bit pricey. It turns out to be the best thing we received. I highly recommend.

"I'm sorry but this thing is LOUD" 2010-01-20
By A. Simeone (USA)
My 4 month old daughter tends to take longer naps while she's being swung, however the motor is LOUD and make a constant CLUNK noise (and no, it doesnt sound like there is something wrong with it - just seems like the normal sound)right above her head and it startles her when I lay her down for a nap. The swing function really does not vary much - when she was a newborn even the slowest setting was WAY too fast (she was just under 7 lbs) and now at just under 15lbs none of the speeds make much of a difference.

I'm also not really a fan of the music - it's kind of fake/tinny and actually kind of creeps me out a little bit.

The colors are very muted, but she does like the lights above and they show onto the canopy very well at night with dimmed lights. This is also a very awkward swing to move and it does take up a good 3 feet of space.

"I wish there was an adult version..." 2010-01-20
By One Small Voice (Kentucky)
I bought this swing after I realized baby preferred rocking side to side and not just front to back (as with the travel swing I had bought--worth the increase in space needed for the larger swing!). Good variety of music/nature sounds (adjustable volume) and attractive color scheme. Lining for the Little Lamb swing is plush and very soft. I didn't find it an issue with the headrest being restrictive to head movement--however, he mostly just sleeps in the swing (headrest gives very good support). After having it for a couple of months he has stayed in his swing for countless hours. Amazon appears to have the best price--it's $150 at several other stores (e.g. BRU and Target). I would like to mention that it's not quite as quiet as I hoped; it still makes an audible clicking noise as it swings. It also takes a couple of minutes to get up to speed (which can seem like forever in baby time!). Other than that it was a great purchase.
